ABOUT US:

Connected Beginnings
The Connected Beginnings Program prepares Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children for school. The program supports both pregnant women and children from birth to school age. It aims to close the gap in school readiness and education outcomes between First Nations and non-Indigenous children.
The Bourke Connected Beginnings Program is auspiced by Bourke & District Children’s Services. Within the role of Capacity Facilitator you will report to the Project Director and collaborate with the Connected Beginnings Team to build capacity within Bourke & District Children’s Services, Maranguka Early Childhood Working Group and the broader community.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

A key function of this position is to work across services and community to recognise gaps and build capacity with the view towards creating long term systemic change and positive workplace culture. The aim is to support positive outcomes across community, starting within the early childhood domain, building improved capacity for both professional services and families across the Bourke community.
To support this important project, you will recognise gaps and build the capacity of early childhood and health services, while building positive and trusting relationships across the community focusing on improving outcomes for children and families within their formative years. The Capacity Facilitator will work in partnership with the Connected Beginnings team to achieve the goals and activities of this important project creating transformative change.

ABOUT YOU:

To be successful you will need to have:

  • Strong cultural competence and experience and demonstrated understanding of working within Indigenous communities, cross cultural settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with key stakeholders, both within the organisation and the wider community.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.

  • A current class C, P1 or P2 driver's licence

  • Proficient knowledge of IT applications

  • A current NSW Working with Children Check.

  • A current National Police/ Criminal History check or be willing to obtain.

  • Be an Australian Resident or equivalent or holder of a visa allowing permanent employment in Australia
