ABOUT US:

Bourke & District Children’s Services (BDCS) is a not-for-profit children's service situated on the banks of the Darling River in Western NSW at Bourke. We run a Childcare Centre, Preschool, Mobile Play Group and Toy Library.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Indigenous Employment Strategy (IES) Mentor plays a vital role in delivering the BDCS Indigenous Employment Strategy, which aims to increase employment opportunities, strengthen career pathways and support long-term success for Indigenous participants within BDCS and the wider community. 

​

IES Mentors provide culturally safe, strengths-based mentoring that supports Indigenous participants to build confidence, develop skills and achieve their personal, cultural, and career goals. Key responsibilities include offering guidance, supporting goal setting and providing one-on-one mentoring with a focus on wellbeing, identity, cultural connection and supporting participants to build the knowledge and confidence needed to enter and thrive in the workforce. Mentors create a safe and supportive space for participants to yarn, grow, and navigate challenges.

TIME COMMITMENT​

The time commitment is flexible to your availability, we encourage 2 - 3 touch points between mentor and participant each week. This may look like a p hone call, text, or face-to-face catch up.
