Package = $55,000 Salary – negotiable for highly experienced candidates + Superannuation + A range of employment benefits​​​

HOURS: Part-Time (8:30am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday, negotiable for the right candidate)
T​​his is an Identified position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. ABOUT US:
Bourke & District Children’s Services (BDCS) is a not-for-profit children's service situated on the banks of the Darling River in Western NSW at Bourke. We run a Childcare Centre, Preschool, Mobile Play Group and Toy Library.

BDCS works collaboratively with other agencies, organisations, schools, and health care providers to support families, develop links to culture, build capacity of the child and community, nurture a lifelong love of learning and improve outcomes for the children of Bourke and District.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for identifying and addressing barriers that affect local Aboriginal families and will support them to access early childhood services.

ABOUT YOU:
To be successful you will need:​

A current class C, P1 or P2 drivers’ licence.

A current NSW Working with Children Check or be eligible to obtain.

A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or be willing to obtain. ​

A current First Aid Certificate in an Early Childhood Education and Care Setting or be willing to obtain.

The ability to identify and address the barriers affecting local Aboriginal families to access early childhood services.

Familiarity and experience working with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and build relationships across the organisation to facilitate the provision of services.

To develop sustainable support strategies and projects in collaboration with other departments and agencies that are in line with local and cultural needs.

To actively collaborate and network with relevant community members to increase the attendance in children’s services.

High quality interpersonal, consultation and communication skills.
-
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.​​
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
The following criteria are considered highly desirable:

Experience in working with families and community.

Previous experience in a First Nations support role.

Experience in generating concise and accurate activity reports.
