ABOUT US:

Bourke & District Children’s Services (BDCS) is a not-for-profit children's service situated on the banks of the Darling River in Western NSW at Bourke. We run a Childcare Centre, Preschool, Mobile Play Group and Toy Library.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Kitchen Support Worker, you will primarily work in the kitchen following guidance given from the cook however, you could also be expected to support within other areas of the organisation where necessary, with duties including cleaning and supporting educators.

​

Within the kitchen your role will include:

  • Assisting the cook to prepare meals through basic food preparation tasks.

  • Ensuring that the kitchen is kept to a high level of cleanliness and infection control principles are adhered to in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

  • Completing necessary documentation to ensure that the Food Standards Code is adhered to.

  • Contributing ideas for the service menu during quarterly planning meetings.

  • Taking full responsibility for operating the kitchen in the cook’s absence.

ABOUT YOU:

To be successful you will need:​

  • A current NSW Working with Children Check or be eligible to obtain. 

  • A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or be willing to obtain. 

  • To be an Australian Resident or equivalent or holder of a visa allowing permanent employment in Australia.​​

  • To have a current Food Safety Supervisor certificate or be willing to obtain.
